Walk on Water or Learn to Swim Excerpt: “When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take Him by force, to make Him a king, He departed again into a mountain Himself alone. And when evening was now come, His disciples went down into the sea, and entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.” (John 6:15-19) Now these were not men who wanted to persecute Jesus or crucify Him. They wanted to make Him a king. However, they wanted to make Him a king on a lower realm than what He was already king of. He was a king, but they couldn’t see His kingdom. He demonstrated in His life and His walk that He was a king. Concerning His teachings about the kingdom, He taught the wonders of the kingdom realm, but they could not understand Him.

Walk on Water or Learn to Swim Cont.

It took the day of Pentecost, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, upon their hearts, to illuminate them and to bring to their minds, the things that He had taught them. Jesus told His disciples that when the Holy Spirit is come, He’ll bring to your remembrance all these things that have been told. When the Holy Spirit came, they then understood why He did not want to be made a King. He did not want to preserve the kingdom of Israel that was on the earth then. It is amazing how God sometimes lets things go under. That is, He does not try to preserve certain things and we do not un-derstand why. Some people lose faith in God because He does not preserve the kingdom of which they are a part, or which they con-sider to be the ultimate in God. They do not understand that He sees so much more that will come forth after the temporal realm is buried and out of their sight.
