Migration Excerpt: Jerimiah Verse 7 Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their mi-gration. But my people do not know the requirements of the LORD. Verse 8 ” ‘How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD,” when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Verse 9 The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?

The ministry of the prophet in both the Old and New testaments was not just to call phone numbers, discern problems or prophesy fear-based prophecies as is prevalent today. One of the key functions of the prophet or the role of the pro-phetic in the scriptures as ordained by God is to download the mind and purposes of God for a particular season. This will enable God’s children to know what the Lord requires of them in order to fully participate in birthing these revealed purposes.
In Jeremiah 8: 7-9, we find Jeremiah documenting for us a very important transaction in the scriptures where we find God compar-ing His children with birds as regards the issue of migration and movement. In the above passage, we see some key words being used such as: the stork (a kind of bird) knows her appointed seasons and the dove knows her season of migration. This pointed to the fact that these birds had a sense of discernment. One of the key prayers we must pray as sons of God in this season is to cry out for discernment.
