A House of Prayer by Travis Ripley: We are either a house of prayer, or a den of thieves. Why is the contrast drawn between prayer and thieves? It is through prayer that God chooses to work in the earth. If we rob him of our prayers, then his purpose is hindered in the earth. We are the ones (His church) that have been given the authority to bring his kingdom into the earth through prayer.
And he said unto them, when you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. (Luke 11:2)
We can see from this passage of scripture (and there are many more) that God gives us the responsibility of bringing forth his rule and his will in the earth through our prayers. If we expect to see that which is true in heaven reproduced in this earth then we must become temples of prayer. If not, we are thieves. We have robbed God of his place in the earth. We have robbed the people of earth of God’s redemption and restoration in Christ. (A House of Prayer by Travis Ripley)
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
We can see from this passage of scripture that God holds his people responsible for the condition of the land. We may not be the cause of the problem, but our prayers are the cure for it. We may not be responsible for the pollution in the land, but our prayers are the only solution for it.
And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the lord, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth; And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel. (Hosea 2:21-22)
We can see a very important principle in these two scriptures. What we sow in the heavens, we reap in the earth. If we sow repentance, confession of sins, humility, and the seeking of God, then we reap forgiveness and the healing of our land. If we sow the heavens with the word of his promise then we will reap the corn, (resurrection life) the wine, (joy of the Lord) and the oil. (Anointing of his presence). We are responsible to pray. We must become people of prayer. We are a house of prayer for all nations. It is through our administration of prayer that the nations will be harvested.
